First day Saturday opening (the start of the slippery slope?) approx 1983/4 which is propbably closer to your memory David Brown with my dear friend Tony Springall.
We both started on the same day in 1977......Mike Thorpe our branch accountant (ops manager) told me then that everyone was allowed one mistake......and a week after starting I got told "That's it you've made your one mistake no more!" .......my error was that as a junior I was in the operations room and I encoded the whole of the day's cheques.....upside down and so the whole of Bracknell branches debit clearing for that day ended up in the "Manual" (sorry to anyone at any branch on the early manual processing the next day).
