If there was a Midland Guinness Book of Records I think I would have qualified as the member of staff who went overdrawn the quickest.
I started in MBIS Southampton in 1983 and on day one was told by my boss to go to the local branch and set up a staff account. I duly went off and set it up and was then asked if I needed some money.
Great job this I thought and used a counter cheque and duly got some dosh.
What I and the counter staff didn't realise was that my money from my other non Midland Account hadn't been received yet so it took me 20 minutes to walk back to my office to find the bank had phoned my manager and told me I had gone overdrawn!
