Appreciating the service of Steve Walker

Writer: Martin RidleyMartin Ridley

17 July 1978

At 10:00 am, I nervously boarded a train at Newcastle Central Station, heading for Leeds and my induction course on Greek Street.

Little did I know that, in a little more than 12 hours later, I would be sharing a double bed with one of my fellow attendees!

That was digs in the 70s for ya.

As so began a lifetime of memories, characters, friends, stories, events, happiness, sadness.

43 years ago today.

Dear me! I'm going for a lie down.
