Another relic from my parents house.
Prior to my following my father's footsteps and starting my banking career in July 1977 Bank Messengers were issued with one (this one being my father's) of these for use during cash in transit runs be tween other banks and standing guard duty outside the branch during bullion van deliveries.
This was stopped just before I started my career as a messenger but my first uniform did have a cosh pocket which hung loosely down to just above the right knee and wrapped itself around the leg when putting the trousers on.
I used to keep my loose change in my right pocket but some of it fell into the cosh pocket so I swapped to the left
