A bitter sweet evening on Saturday as a farewell drinks event was held to mark the closing of the HSBC sports ground at Beckenham. The clubhouse was full as people returned to have a final drink with old friends and teammates.

I have spent 41 happy years down there and have made lifelong friendships. 2 of the rugby club who attended first played there over 70 years ago and there were more with 60 and 50 years.

Sad to see 107 years of history finish

The rugby club will continue to have lunches to keep old players connected.
