Found this in a Newport County programme from April 1981.

I can remember playing on Somerton Park and believe that I have some photos of the game somewhere. Some names of colleagues who may have also played are: Mark Robson, Paul Adams, Steve Smith, Mark Sims, Bob Jones, Alun Wheeler, Mark Hennessy and possibly Jeff Hodder.

I remember taking part in this game and I have a photo of Rob Jones taking that missed penalty. Ball on the way up and over.

That's me watching on the left. Mark Sims Well my version is that I missed on purpose as those that played and watched always remember this from the game.

Here’s some of the names I recall, Mike Fenton in goal, Steve Smith and Chris Stoodley centre halves (smithy claims he marked Brian Clark out of the game) the terrific midfield of Hayward, Sims and yours truly.

I also recall Laurence Payne, Dave Adams, Calvin Smith.

Don’t think Alun Wheeler was in Newport then.

Great times and memories.

Bob Jones I remember a small group of Newport players were watching, and gave Bob Jones a bit of stick/advice in the bar afterwards as he missed a penalty.
