It’s almost two decades since The Marketeers of West Yorkshire were spawned,and in the period since we have grown in numbers. Though it remains unknown for us all to synchronise as a full house, there have been as few as two and as many as eleven.It all depends on availability and logistics.

Over the course of our real ale by rail adventures the occasions on which we have visited Huddersfield can be counted on the proverbial one hand. This Wednesday just gone, however, we managed another trip on what proved to be a gloriously sunny and warm day. Most welcome after the near-incessant rain of our winter.

We convened in Wetherspoons’ Lord Wilson,then took in The Sportsman Beerhouse,Head Of Steam and this one, the King’s Head.
