I joined the Midland in October 1969, my first branch was Craig y Don just outside Llandudno branch, my first job was to list the cheques from the clearing and then try to balance the total with the clearing, it took nearly all day, and I thought because they closed at 3.30.

I told my Mam I would be home for 3.45, boy did I get a shock!
