On Monday I attended a Freedom of the City of London ceremony at the Guildhall for my good friend and ex colleague Dave Watling. Dave joined the bank in Kent in the 1980s, eventually worked in Marylebone and George Street RHO before joining Uk Operations in Watling Court in 1989. He later managed R&A in Park Street and managed both Frimley and Park Street DSCs before being transferred to IPSL when we outsourced cheque processing in 2000. His award was for services in the Financial Services Industry.
Bridget Slade who worked at Bristol DSC delivered a moving tribute to Dave at our celebratory lunch and on Facebook.
On Sunday before the event Dave and his wife Sian who also worked in the bank joined us and Jean, Johnnie and Ellie Virk together with Tom Bainbridge who all worked in the bank at sometime or other (Johnnie still does) for a BBQ here.
A busy weekend. Well done David.
