Appreciating the service of Peter Sleightholme
14 July 1958, 63 years ago today (hashtag dinosaur) a shy youth turned up at the doors of Midland Bank Training Branch Birkdale, resplendent in my made to measure charcoal grey Burton 10 guinea suit.
The beginning of a 34 year Odyssey. I was repeatedly told that the door is open to get to the very top.
Pass your exams. (No study leave or leaving early to go to night school)
The Bank I joined was a respected institution and competition
between the banks was solely on levels of local service.
The staff also were held in high public esteem I soon learned, I worked with fabulous people throughout my career and am now lucky enough to be in my 31st year on Pension.
Happy days, fab people, great memories.
