Appreciating the service of David Brown

50 years ago today I started my career at The Midland Bank Canterbury.

I was very nervous. Alan Newman the messenger let me in and took me to the acting Accountant Eric Tickner.

John Deeley the Accountant was on a course and I did not meet him for a couple of weeks. The manager Denis Le Sueur did not talk to me for several days.

My first day was spent carrying confidential waste from the basement to the ground floor. A very dirty job and not what I had expected.

When I got home that evening my Mum asked how I had got on.

I said I am not sure I am going to like it.

I retired in 2008 after 37 years!
