50 years ago at 09.00 I started work at Windermere branch of Midland Bank Ltd.

I was junior there for about 15 months and it is strange the things that you remember. The circulars which came each day had amendments to the Branch Pamphlet which I had to do.

They were changing all the telephone number in the country to STD at that time and I can remember amending the number of Hastings branch. The old one was Hastings 1066.

I can also remember the phone number of Kendal branch at that time, it was Kendal 22200.

I worked all over the North West until I retired in 2010.
