My first day was 3rd September 1973. Corporation St Coventry. (Lindsey Clarke) I too had butterflies as I took a deep breath and pressed the doorbell. The door slowly opened by the messenger who took me to meet the Accountant, Mr Grisdale, who stood in the middle of the ground floor on an elevated platform to ensure he had a good view of everything going on! I was quickly despatched to the remittance department and joined other newbies sorting huge piles of cheques (A-B, C-D etc)! I joined intending to stay one year before going to uni. I left HSBC in 2016. 43 years later! I had a great career made brilliant by the people I worked with. I made lifelong friends and look back on some wonderful memories. Love reading the comments here.
