For many years Midland Bank was proud of its valued contribution to and involvement in local communities and I'm particularly thinking of the Young Enterprise Scheme at the moment.
I previously lived near the town of Keynsham and, if my memory is correct, it was a Young Enterprise Company from Wellsway Comprehensive School, Keynsham, which won the very first national Young Enterprise Competition in early years of the 1980s.
I remember seeing a video of the presentation event when Brian Cocup presented the Trophy.
In 1987 Wellway's Young Enterprise Company for that year produced an informative booklet detailing the History of Shopping in Keynsham High Street.
One of the many supporting adverts in the booklet is the Midland one shown below.
Many of us of a certain mature age will remember Horace Batchelor and him advertising in the 1950s & 1960s his infra-draw football results selection system on Radio Luxembourg.
He used to tell his listeners to Write to Horace Batchelor, Dept. 1, K E Y N S H A M, Bristol.
